Community networks are an emerging and successful model for the Future Internet across Europe and far beyond. The CONFINE project complements existing FIRE infrastructure by establishing a new facility built on the federation of existing community IP networks constituted by more than 20,000 nodes and 20,000 Km of links.
Privacy Flag combines crowd sourcing, ICT technology and legal expertise to protect citizen privacy when visiting websites, using smart-phone applications, or living in a smart city. It will enable citizens to monitor and control their privacy with a user friendly solution provided as a smart phone application, a web browser add-on and a public website.
Over recent years, Industrial and Automation Control Systems (IACS) adopted in Critical Infrastructures (CIs) have become more complex due to the increasing number of interconnected devices, and to the large amount of information exchanged among system components. With the emergence of such an “Internet of Things” generation of IACS, the boundaries to be protected have grown well beyond that of the single or aggregated-plant, typical of the mono-operator or silos vision.
SAINT proposes to analyze and identify incentives to improve levels of collaboration between cooperative and regulatory approaches to information sharing. Analysis of the ecosystems of cybercriminal activity, associated markets and revenues will drive the development of a framework of business models appropriate for the fighting of cybercrime.

F-Interop will develop and provide remotely accessible tools to support and accelerate standardization processes and products developments, by offsetting several cost and time barriers. The FCD4ITS (Floating Car Data Collection for Intelligent Transportation Systems) project will deploy and execute a set of experiments using the RAWFIE vehicular testbeds to evaluate the performance of our own (and other state-of-the-art) Floating Car Data collection algorithms, in order to understand their properties in real-world settings.
Complementing the ACI/IATA efforts, FLYSEC project aims to develop and demonstrate an innovative integrated and end-to-end airport security process for passengers, enabling a guided and streamlined procedure from the landside to airside and into the boarding gates, and offering for the first time an operationally validated innovative concept for end-to-end aviation security.

LiveCity brings together leading telecoms providers, SMEs, local government agencies and research institutions from across Europe to develop and test new Internet right-of-way technologies. The basic premise of the project is to provide a virtual path throughout the Internet that will allow for fast, reliable, interactive data transfer with a guaranteed quality of service. LiveCity will add to this technical base by using the right-of-way technologies to deliver reliable video-to-video services across Europe.

FREESIC proposes a solution that will allow highly secure and cost effective interoperability between communication infrastructures over the entire Europe. The project has been inspired by legal, organizational and operational barriers we encountered during our attempts to provide interoperability for end users in the previous research project Secricom.
Europe and China are at the forefront of technological advances in areas related to the Future Internet (especially 5G and IoT). While both parties share common technological objectives, there is still room for improvement in what concerns bilateral co-operation. As a result, the main purpose of EXCITING is to support the creation of favourable conditions for cooperation between the European and Chinese research and innovation ecosystems, mainly related to the key strategic domains of IoT and 5G.
Over the past 5 years the majority of the REDIRNET consortia have participated in Projects SECRICOM and FREESIC; this has involved partners engaging significantly with a wide range of public safety officers across the EU. A benefit of this engagement has been the recognition that in addition to agency interoperability of communications a pressing need exists for agency interoperability of additional IT systems such as databases, sensor systems and cameras. REDIRNET provides a framework for addressing this need with detailed mapping of user preferences and related legal requirements using innovative technologies.
TARGET will deliver a pan-European serious gaming platform featuring new tools, techniques and content for training and assessing skills and competencies of SCA (Security Critical Agents - counterterrorism units, border guards, first responders (police, firefighters, ambulance services civil security agencies, critical infrastructure operators).
Disaster risk reduction policies and institutional mechanisms exist at various degrees of completeness in the African countries represented in the IRMA Consortium. Their effectiveness is however limited when dealing with major disasters and complex emergencies.
In 2010 an EU-China expert group was established. The main area studied by this group was the “Internet of the Future”, the “Internet of Things” and also the protocols to be defined and deployed. Particular attention was dedicated to IPv6 deployment as difficulties have been identified, both in Europe and in China. Societal aspects and cooperation in research were also addressed. The expert group met twice in July and September 2010 and had regular exchanges which led to recommendations in important areas such as future internet including FIRE and IPv6.
Future Education and Training in Computing: How to support learning at anytime anywhere?
The project aims at the achievement of intelligent growth, and building a knowledge and innovation based computer society through raising the quality of computing education, introducing modern innovative technologies in education, sharing knowledge, discussing methodologies, promoting exchange of good practice between all parties.
The project "GEN6 - Governments Enabled with IPv6” is founded by the European Commission, FP-7 framework. It addresses the issues faced by public administrations that need to upgrade existing e-government infrastructures to IPv6. The aim of the project is to share the knowledge gained from practical implementations in different scenarios of different project partners, when it comes to the transition to the IPv6 protocol.
The EFIPSANS project aims at exposing the features in IP version six protocols that can be exploited or extended for the purposes of designing or building autonomic networks and services.

The NARTUS project is focused on creating a European platform and roadmap for future public safety communication and will help to facilitate European integration in the area of Public Safety with particular focus on public safety communications and information systems.
SECRICOM is a research project creating Seamless Communication for Crisis Management for EU safety. Thirteen partners from eight EU countries united their capacities in order to produce a competetive solution for secure communication and collaboration of emergency responders with advanced functions. The project is co-funded from FP7 programme.
