FREESIC observation

FREESIC observation of ESS project - Sospel, April 13, 2013

FREESIC project observed Final Field Test of  ESS project. ESS project The Emergency Support System (ESS) is a suite of real-time data-centric technologies which will provide actionable information to crisis managers during abnormal events. This information will enable improved control and management, resulting in real-time synchronization between forces on the ground (police, rescue, firefighters) and out-of-theater command and control centers (C&C).

The Sospel/Vescavo  scenario for demonstrating ESS considers an air-crash in a forested area next to the village Sospel located near the French-Italian borders. The situation includes victims spread in the crash location, a  forest fire start which spread from France to the French-Italian borders, an explosion and formation of toxic cloud directed towards an Italian village (Vescavo) next to the borderline. The Fire authorities (CODIS), the Community of Sospel and Vescavo, the local Police (CORG) and the Regional Authorities (COD)  will be actively involved in the planned demonstration. Italian Fire brigades (Vigili del Fuoco) will also participate in the tests.
