Peter Kirstein

Peter Kirstein has been involved with computer networks for over 40 years. He has led many National, European and International projects in data communications, active networks, multimedia, IPv6 and security. For 15 years he was Head of Department of Computer Science at University College London, where he is currently Professor.  Most of his recent projects have involved IPv6, and many the Internet of Things.

Professor Kirstein is a Fellow of many learned societies including the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Electrical Technology and the Institute of Physics. He has received many awards including the ACM SIGCOMM award, the RAE lifetime achievement award and the Postel award. He is a Commander of the British Empire, a Distinguished Fellow of the British Computer Society, an Honorary Foreign Fellow of the American Association of Arts and Sciences and the American Academy of Engineering, and a Pioneer member of the ISOC Internet Hall of Fame.
